Artist's Description

This is a square in sixth arrondissement of Paris, in the Saint-Germain des Pres district. Several artists had studios on this square. At number 6 was the former studio of Eugene Delacroix (from 1857 - 1863), which was then taken over by Diogene Maillart. Until January 1866, Frederic Bazille shared a studio with Claude Monet one floor up and of which he left a painting entitled "Atelier de la rue Furstenberg." The building is home today to the Delacroix museum.
